I remember seeing him on the casting calls and thinking: “Yeah. He’s not going to last”. Boy was I wrong. William Hung, move over. It’s time for Norman Gentle.
According to Nick Michell’s admission, he was only doing it as a comedy routine. However, when the group thought he had a great voice, he was going to Hollywood.
Now it’s time to change.
Nick does have that look of the washed up 80′s lounge singer. No offense to Huey Lewis – I could have easily said Greg Kihn or a host of other 80′s Pop singers. But he does have that look and feel – along with the Will Farrell “Over the top” acting.
Without the outfit and by taking a more serious run to it, he might just go a little farther than he expects. Even with the outfit, if Nick tunes down the comedy, his voice can take him farther.
But if he doesn’t make it to the top 12, will we see him on the set of Saturday Night Live? He does have the comedy face – I first thought of Bob Rivers, from the Twisted Christmas albums. No matter what, Nick has just vaulted his career into a new direction.
That’s the Power of Love…
The ultimate handymans’ tool – Duct Tape. But what do you do when even Duct Tape fails? Well, you put on more Duct Tape. And not just any Duct Tape, but Nuclear Grade Duct Tape.
3M has come out with this Nuclear Grade miracle. This 0.33mm thick tape will hold 36 lbs. per inch. It will also stand up to temperatures of 200 degrees F. Isn’t a Nuclear explosion hotter than that? I believe we get into 10 million on the Kelvin scale.
The tape is also UL723, HUD and BOCA compliant. And before you start substituting hamburgers with Duct Tape, this version of BOCA stands for “Building Officials Code Administrators International“. It just means you can use the Duct Tape in construction. No, it doesn’t mean you can substitute all your Nails for Duct Tape, either.
The Backing is Polyethylene film over cloth scrim and the adhesive is Natural and synthetic rubber. You can get 48, 72, and 144mm roll widths in Slate Blue and Red. You can use it for sealing, masking, joining, marking, holding, splicing, protecting, reinforcing, moisture proofing, hanging poly (oh, we won’t go there….), patching and temporary conduit capping.
So go ahead – Duct Tape away!
Another case of “Music Came First”. I always like jamming with the Capo on. It’s like playing a whole new guitar.
Forgive the Harmonies since I only did them twice. Also small latency issues, although I tried to sync up the tracks as best as possible.
This is a Metonymy – where instead of saying “It’s Hot”, you say “Temperature Rising” or “101 Degrees”.
I’m Free – And I know Nobody can catch me
I’m Free – Like An Eagle flying over the oceans body.
I take the open road right now – Put it in my pocket, save for later, but now
I’m Free

This is a “Got the music before the lyrics” song. Tried recording in a different way, so it will sound slightly different.
Sittin at the homestead – Not sure what to do
It’s a Friday night, the air feel right for a party with the group.

This is the second portrait I made, using Bitstrips (the first was a character named Bone). As with my Superman, the moon prop was a key element in this picture.
I started with Usagi’s head. The face was so important. Building the eyes, which would move the viewer to the whole portrait. Also, giving him the fuzzy look. After all, he is a Rabbit!
After the face was done, I was home free… right! Turns out the ears were a LOT more difficult than I thought. The end result was worth the effort!
Now it got much easier… really! The body went quick, and even though the sword handle was quite detailed, it did not pose much problem in the design.
The end result was more exciting than I had hoped. Usagi looks like a character straight off of Cartoon Network! Now, if only someone would animate this amazing Character…
I was working on my solo show for this weekend when this song popped in. It’s mostly a song for a friend who lost someone a long time ago.
*Warning* it is one of my darker songs.
Just had a hurricane run through my head
And I think it’ be better if things were left unsaid
Now I’ve fallen from my comfy bed

The Host of the Price is Right has brought it upon himself to campaign for the favorite “Microblogging” software. Basically, some contestants “came on down” with shirts containing their Twitter names. Drew then explained what Twitter was.
Makes me wonder if Drew Carey is out there twittering. There is a drewcarey twitter, but only 2… well now 3 followers.
I was in the Car when I thought up this dittie – Mainly the chorus. It was all about an ad on the radio. It’s a very dark and somber song.
Lyrics
Looking for some cool items for your home that the Jones’ don’t? Well how about a circular Bookshelf? How about a bookshelf that also lets you sit in it. The only thing we are missing is the Hampster wheel effect. Wouldn’t that be cool? You are running in the wheel, pull a book from the shelf and start reading. Well, that is if you can read and run at the same time.
Better yet, you could hook that wheel up to a battery and all of a sudden, your bookshelf is Green! You are reading more, you are exercising more and you are energy efficiant. Who could ask for anything more?
Well, let’s at least start with the bookshelf. Sit down – enjoy a novel. The price is not that bad, either over on APCI
And so, I begin my trek through the internet, to find the worst websites around! I begin with a site I found quite by accident, while on my way to another bad site. This one was much more colorful, though, so here it is!
If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, some sweet ink on your arm or a Tramp Stamp, maybe you better take a look at what the rest of the world is wearing!
www.ratemyink.com lets you look at tats, vote on ‘em, and even say if they are inappropriate! You can rate all the ink, or just the ones on arms, or just the skulls, thanks to a drop-down menu above the first image.
It seems pretty tasteful. No chest shots, and below the underwear line is strategically posed for a PG look. Still, I doubt your 7 year old is a good audience here!
But if you want to see the latest body art online, this is the place!
I was watching the movie “Real Genius” on G4 and started thinking: Where are they now? Of course, we all know that Val Kilmer went on to be the Dark Knight, a doctor, a rockstar and ultimately KITT – the voice of Knight Rider. So where are the rest?
Mitch Taylor – Gabriel Jarret : It all started with wondering – “What happened to Mitch?” Well, it turns out that Gabriel had ditched the underwear with his license plates and did a lot of different gigs. While nothing high profile, he’s been in shows like LA Law, Party of 5 and the West Wing. He’s been in movies like “The American President”, Apollo 13 and currently the Oscar Nominated “Frost/Nixon”.
Jordan Cochran – Michelle Meyrink :Michelle did only a few more spots, but then decided to give up acting in 1988. She is now a Zen Buddhist with her husband and 3 children in Canada.
Prof. Jerry Hathaway – William Atherton:Just like Val Kilmer – William has been in a lot after this movie. Die Hard, for one, as the reporter that follows John McClain around. Bio-Dome, The Crow: Salvation, Desperate Housewives and is currently doing voice for a Ghostbusters video game.
Lazlo Hollyfeld – Jon Gries:Jon is the most surprising – guess he came out of the closet – litterally. I thought I would be looking at his profile and not recognize anything he has done since. Yet, the reality was – I didn’t recognize him when I DID see him. He played “Uncle Rico” in Napolean Dynamite. It’s facinating that you sit there going “I’ve seen this guy before”, but when it finally hits you, you put it all together. Jon has 3 movies in post-production right now.
Kent – Robert Prescott:Wake up Kent. Would you be surprised if I said he was in Spaceballs? Robert has moved from show to movie since 1985. Most recent: Burn After Reading.
Of course, there are many others – Sherry Nugil: the girl who ended up marying Laslo, has been in many a show. Most recent: Rescue Me. Tommy Swerdlow (Brodie) turned writer of screenplays like “Cool Runnings”, “Bushwhacked”, and “Cool Runnings”.
All in all a great movie for 1985. Some great lines, like questioning the ability to pound a nail with a body part, and how to turn a house into a Jiffy Pop commercial. The movie was definitely a Real Genius.
Not a big Guacamole fan, but I would get behind this: Robert Saccenti put together a bowl for his favorite food - Guacamole. Actually, this was for the infamous GuacBowl 09 – a contest to build the best condiment dipper.
There were 32 entries, but Robert took top honors with his Carbonite – turned Guacamole Han Solo. Greedo would have been proud. In fact, maybe that is what he said to Solo in the Cantina instead of “Going Somewhere Solo?” Maybe it was: “I am going to capture you so Jabba can turn you into a cool new bowl to eat chips and watch the Pittsburg Steelers pummel the Arizona Cardnals”.
Within Robert’s Blog Post, he said he found master special effects makeup artist Bill Forsche, who had a sculpt of the face. The body was simply a mannequin torso he bought – Although it looks like Solo got a small cosmetic surgery before being encased.
50 Avacados, lots of chicken wire, Redwood boards and a little Bondo later, the Carbonite Han Solo Guacamole Bowl was created. Pretty tasty. Although I suggest he build partitions for Salsa, Sour Cream, Jalapenos, black Olives, Cheese and meat. Yummy, yummy.
