Billy Joel came out with this song off the “Storm Front” album called “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. This chronicled the 20th Centrury in a 4 minute song. It’s not a easy song to sing, either – I know; I’ve done it at Karaoke.
Anywho, College Humor decided to remake the song. We Didn’t Start the Flame War is a great remake of the song. While it is semi – Not Work Safe, it is a great song and I think it was perfectly done.
Billy Joel should be proud.
Here’s one for all of you who have heard about the waste of electricity caused by laptops left on, or even the news of possible download caps-
Spam wastes even more electricity than leaving your computer running 24/7!
McAfee calculated that spam eats up a total of 33 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, costing roughly $3 billion a year in wasted power alone.
That is enough to power 2.4 million American homes!
Don’t forget about the money spent on spam filtering software, the loss of productivity due to users spending time deleting spam messages and finding false positives!
We should also note the losses from people who get caught up in spam-based scams, either purchasing useless or undelivered products or being the victims of a spam-based crime. After all, it’s these idiots that keep spam alive.
McAfee also found that the ‘Carbon Footprint’ of Spam suggests that spam transmission creates the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as 3.1 million passenger cars using two billion gallons of gasoline each year!
The good news is that spam filtering saves 135 billion killowatt-hours of electricity that would otherwise be wasted if all users and computers went unprotected from spam.
So, if you don’t have one, go get your spam emission check, and update your filter! Go green!
Hobbies – Some put ships in bottles, some build gardens and even others collect things like wine, cans and golf balls among other things. So why not Paper Wing Commander Spaceships as a hobby?
Péricles Lopes Gomide Filho is a Brazillian that has modeled since 1985. He started on plastic, but decided to move to paper after he found it was difficult to find plastic models. He has honed in his craft and came up with some great models.
I have done a couple paper models myself. This is not an easy thing to do. Not only do you have to configure the pieces by yourself, but you have to figure out how it will stay together. Not to mention how fragile these models can be – You could crush it in just picking them up. Keeping it in a dry, temperature controlled area is important.
If you are a modeler or just a fan of Wing Commander, check out the Papercommander.
I don’t try and post 2 videos within 2 days, but when I saw this I was so impressed, it was an epitome of a Dork. These four… eh… one guy does the best A Capella version. Um.. wait – someone has done this already? The same group? Oh.
There are a lot of different A Capella videos here. Check them out. It includes a video by one Chris Pirillo and a little black dot. Great addition to your YouTube Subscription.
Added some cool new features to Dorkazine. One of them you’ll see below. It’s a star rating system. You can now rate any article that you like or like even more.
Don’t forget – there are a lot of old articles you should probably go back and give some love to. Make them feel they are part of the Dorkazine family. Give them a “Cyber-hug” if you will.
…or just give em .25¢ and send them on their way. They’re good with that, too.
When I first saw Susan, I thought – Mimi from the Drew Carrey Show. Add a little eye shadow, a multi-colored dress and a bad attitude – you have the Administrative Assistant to Craig Ferguson.
When she walked on the stage, most people just wrote her off. Expected her to croon, Simon to scoff and her to walk off stage in tears. But this 47 year old did something no nobody expected.
What did she do? Let’s just say, she sang better than expected.
There is no embeddable video on this – most likely these YouTube videos will go down later. But in the meantime, check out Susan Boyle – the 47 Year old that has never been kissed.
This was such a great video, I watched it a few times.
Check here for Susan Boyle singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.
Kelly Coffman Lee loves Tofu. The “Bean-Curd” that is consumed by many and is usually associated in vegetarian living is something she wants to tell people about. Therefore when it was time to get a new license plate, she figured – Why not get a plate that really shows my love for this product.
She went to the Colorado DMV and signed up for ILUVTOFU. The DMV looked at that – and came back and said no. Not because they are against Tofu, but because of the alternate meaning to the plate. I LUV to FUnk.
OK, it might not be Funk. But you can make the change. Actually – before you chastise this – it was probably a good idea for the DMV to make this decision. Think about it. You’re driving down the street with your ILUVTOFU plate and you get all these cars come up and honk at you. If you are a pretty good lookin person, you might get someone to come up and make some lude comments.
Maybe TOFUILUV would be a better choice. When I signed up for my custom plates, I had to write down 4 choices just in case my first choice is already taken. I wonder if she got another version of the plate name.
For now, if you love Tofu, you might want to think about how to say things when you get your license plate.
Superman has super powers. Batman has a cool suit. Superman has heat vision. Batman has a cool car. What Batman lacks in power, he makes up with money. Well, I call it as I see it.
College Humor has a great 2 part animated short about the two superheros… and… huh? OH ALRIGHT! One superhero and a guy in a bat suit. Below is part 1. Hey Batman! Spare change?
T-Shirts. We love them. We wear them – Well, unless we have 6 pack abs, then we just wear a half open shirts. Oh wait. No 6-pack here – Only in the fridge.
We at Dorkazine love T-shirts, too. My favorite store was the now defunct Steve & Barry’s. They started as a great place for University shirts, then the company expanded. Sarah Jessica Parker saved them for a while, yet alas, they eventually went the way of the Dodo.
So where do you go for your shirts? Well, there are a few places. We decided to pick a few. Snorg Tees and ThinkGeek are a couple places you can check out.We decided to show you some Dorky shirts you can get for your loved one.

The EQ Shirt – for the music lover. This shirt not only looks cool, it moves! Watch the bars go up and down to your favorite song! Read the rest of this entry »
Because of the over-tired Dorkazine Staff, we decided that sleeping through April Fools day was the best thing. Therefore, we turned off our phones, threw away the alarms turned off the lights and taped Aluminum foil over all the windows. This allowed us not only to sleep the day, but also block any alien signals from getting into the house.
We at Dorkazine decided to take this action after finding out Google Chrome was creating the same April Fools Day joke that we were. We at Dorkazine were so devastated that we retreated to our rooms for hibernation of the 1st day in April.
“I cannot believe this happened” said Elesia Stone, cheif Editor. “Damn that Chrome!”
Dorkazine will be back with more cool information around the Interweb on April 2nd.
