This was the tweet from Zombieland co-creator Rhett Reese. Apparently he never watched his own movie.

In my review of the Zombieland series, I pointed out all the flaws that eventually made this series fail. The biggest is still the decision to cast Kirk Ward as Tallahassee. Most fans never even watched the pilot, after seeing the chunkhead choice on promotional material.

It’s really no surprise to see why it took so long for this show to get made. Perhaps Mr Reese might want to read my April 24th essay. Better yet, tune in to Twitter, and listen to your fans!

Back in March, The Sun reported Smith was leaving after series 7.

Warner Bros. and CBS Consumer products announced they have formed a merchandising alliance between hit comedy, “The Big Bang Theory” and “Star Trek,”! DC Comics is in on the coolness, too!

They will be making a limited-edition collection of co-branded “Big Bang”/”Star Trek” merchandise, which will be available at Hot Topic retails stores and on HotTopic.com. It will include T-shirts and bobbleheads.

Hot Topic also will carry a new limited-edition T-shirt featuring the guys in their favorite DC Comics super hero costumes.

This last season has been, without a doubt, the weakest one since the 2005 return. Bringing the Ponds back for no good reason than to ‘kill’ them, fans around the world were outraged. I have not seen anything so confusing to everyone except the creator since Star Wars: Episode One.

I really have not seen any direction in Doctor Who for some time. Upon the exit of the Ponds, Moffat said the Doctor would become more of an ‘adult’. Well, putting on glasses and wearing a longer coat is how a 3 year old becomes more of an adult, but it isn’t gonna get you a pass at the liqueur store.

Moffat may have a grander plan for The Doctor, but most fans do not have the tenacity to wait and find out what that may or may not be. They want a bit of the payoff sooner. Moffat dangles carrot pieces in front of them. Pieces like the name of The Doctor. Right, like they are EVER going to let that out of the bag. Even if they did, it would most likely be a big let down, like learning that MacGgyver’s real name was Angus. Yeah, that was a spoiler. From 21 years ago.

One perfect example of Moffat’s lip service;  ’Journey To the Centre Of the TARDIS’ gave us some carrot bits, when Clara whizzed past parts of the ship we had only heard about, like the pool and the library. This was the end result of another big promise Moffat made about this season, that we we would get to see more of the ship. It’s this kind of cheap payoff that he has been doing for the last three years.

There was a bit of a bright spot with the addition of Clara, but even this is not enough. Her existence should have been enough of a challenge for The Doctor to fuel things for awhile, but her story seems to be just there as a backup for when this ‘new direction’  doesn’t pan out, which it isn’t.

I really don’t expect anything next week, or by the 50th. Last week there was a rumor going about that John Hurt was going to be playing some sort of ‘missing’ Who incarnation. Maybe he could reset the timeline, and Smith’s Doctor could be a bad Bobby Ewing dream.

No matter what, I just want Moffat and Smith to step down, so someone can get this series back on track.

Harryhausen may not be a household name now, but back in the day, he was the king of making fantasy come to life. Few people have not been touched by his magic.

Inspired by the work on ‘King Kong’, he became a master of his craft. He brought amazing creatures to life on the screen, in a process he dubbed ‘Dynamation’, in ways Rankin and Bass only dreamed about.

In 1949 he, along with Willis O’Brien, won the Academy Award for special effects, for the film ‘Mighty Joe Young’.

From Mighty Joe Young to The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad to Clash Of the Titans, his brand of animation was well known and loved. So much so that the movie ‘Spy Kids 2: the Island Of Lost Souls’ used CGI animation made to mimic his stop motion genius. It was, in my opinion, high praise.

His techniques are still the standard by which great talents like Tim Burton still employs. Even Star Wars owes a great debt of gratitude to Ray.

The world of fantasy and imagination owes a debt of gratitude to Ray Harryhausen. He will be missed.

Now, Giant Freaking Robot breaks this juggernaut of news.

John Hurt, the acclaimed actor who you remember as Olivander in Harry Potter, or Sutler in V For Vendetta, or Trevor Bruttenholm in Hellboy, is going to be joining Smith, Tennant, Piper and Coleman in the Doctor Who special. What is his role? No one knows for sure, but…

Yep. Apparently, the 9th is the 10th, the tenth is the eleventh and the eleventh is the twelfth! That is, if you believe this big ol’ rumor.

According to someone, Hurt’s doctor is a forgotten incarnation. My guess is something to do with the Time War.

Now, for another bit of 50th trivia you may have overlooked, Jemma Regrave will be making an appearance. Who? Why, she’s the niece of Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave, and a member of the Redgrave dynasty!

Now, back to the ninth doctor thing. I think this is all interwebz misdirection and folly. I guess we will wait… and wait…

The summer movie landscape is aglow with sights of Iron Men, Supermen, space men , and men exploring a post apocalyptic earth. But the men who are gonna try to own this summer, are the ones who party ’till the end!

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Jonah Hill is not afraid!

First up is ‘This Is the End’, due out in June. It stars Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan, James Franco, Emma Watson, Micheal Cera, Jason Segal and more as… themselves! Yep! They are all themselves, taking a break from the usual Hollywood hub-bub at a big party in the hills. Just as they are about to blow the roof off the dump, the world blows the roof off the dump, resulting in a plot line of biblical proportion! From the trailer, this looks pretty darn funny, and is especially cool because you got your Freaks and Geeks reunion kinda goin’ on here!

Then, there’s the eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs excitement of  the movie ‘The World’s End’, which is, believe it or not, the third in a trilogy (Shawn Of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) from Edgar Wright. Yep, it’s Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and other assorted familiar faces from the previous films, all together for… wait for it… a story about a group of people who get together for a party, only to have the world end on them! It was just announced that this film will be coming out in August, and no trailer seems to be available yet for viewing, but WHO CARES? It’s freakin’ Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright!

How true, Rainn. How True…

I guess I should also throw this up- Possible Spoiler Alert! Read on if you are not afraid, or don’t care…

Okay, so… Oh! Alright, so do you remember the series ‘The Tick’? And I mean the cartoon version That ran on FOX. That one was great! It had all the heroes, and the fantastic Rouges Gallery of Ben Edlund’s original comic, as well as the wit and shenanigans that we all read and adored.

But then FOX produced a live action version. And while Patrick Warburton was destined to play The Tick, he was woefully hampered by FOX’s chincey budget, which, after making his big blue suit of justice with movable antennae, did not allow for any special effects driven episodes with El Seed or Chairface Chippendale, or lasers that wrote ‘CHA’ on the moon. In short, it just did not live up, so it was canned.

Zombieland is like that, except in reverse. While the graphics are good, and the zombie scenes bloody and fun, (finding a home on Amazon has afforded them the ability to get a bit more gruesome with the gore, and to swear a lot), the characters have suffered.

While I thought Wichita and Little Rock were well cast, it was Columbus and especially Tallahassee that were the duds! Kirk Ward is FAR less like Woody Harrelson’s version, and more like if Vince Vaughn had originated the role, and Tyler Ross’ looks and acts too much like Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel) to play Columbus.

The episode starts at the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse, with an amusing bit involving a desk jockey babbling on to his co-worker about his bad day, while zombies begin attacking people in the parking lot outside. Enter Tallahassee, who’s a LUNCH CART GUY?! Not the backstory I was figuring for such an enigmatic character!

After the credits, we catch up with our ‘family’, seemingly right after the events of the movie. They are tooling about L.A., assisted by some Oracle type woman who’s available through OnStar. Yes, really. I know.

She gives them the lowdown on where to find more survivors, somehow. They begin to tool about town finding these folks, only to have them meet sticky bloody ends.

The episode ends with them deciding to leave L.A., now that everyone is dead, and are heading east, towards New York, where OnStar (I know, right?!) lady tells them there is a Zombie-Free Zone. From their conversation, as they drive off into the sunset, they will be visiting other cities along the way, possibly to unwittingly eradicate the living from there as well.

While the writing seems to be close to the level of the movie, including, of course, the rules and the ‘Zombie Kill Of the Week’, there is little else to it. The writers, according to what I have read, had all the rules written down, but used very few of them in the movie. Some more were included in the pilot, but they didn’t come with the usual explanation  That is something they need to work on. Also, since this was a pilot, so I am hoping they go back, recast Tallahassee and Columbus.

Let’s hope for better down the road…

Oh, and according to IMDB, a sequel to the Zombieland is still in the works! Fingers crossed!
