Last night I was watching the Fox show ‘Lie to Me‘. In the show, Cal Lightman brought out an Ostrich Egg. He said that in African trials the accused would hold the egg and if it broke in their hands, they were guilty. He then proved that process was not accurate since the egg was so fragile, it could break if simply mishandled.

According to an ancient African proverb, power is like an egg; if held too tightly, it breaks. If held too loosely, it will slip from your grasp. This is what represents the sculpture on Barrack Obama’s desk.

The design is made from the wood of a Monkey Pod tree. That reminds me of a video called “Monkey Magic”; a Japanese TV show. So the Egg is a great representation of the fragility of life and power. It’s a good sign to show that you understand the importance of your job.
